In the beginning...
A long time ago, human's had dediced to leave Earth. The reason's for any one person were different and there were many reasons. The shortage of resource's such as oil and other natural fuel's caused many outbreaks among the nation's of Earth. And with no suitable method of terraforming devised as of yet, they sent out ships to a far off star system. It was their last hope.
Year's passed. Some things got better with time. The language and race barrier was slowly borken down during the travel of the ship's. But the difference of opinion's and belief's were much harder to break. During the travel's, much was discussed. How would they handle the new system that they encountered? What if there was other life? Who should lead humanity into the next phase of it's history?
Their answer...The One Mind.
The One Mind
Contrary to the way it sounds. The One Mind isn't anything diabolical. It is a collective from many walks of life. They would vote on the direction's of humanity and the plannet's that we have and would settle. It sounded good and was good. And it brought humanity through alot of hard time's. The meeting of other race's and the community that we formed with them was a big achievment of The One Mind. It even brought other race's into the human community.
Time's for a long while, were very prosperous. But humanity is a race of conflict. And conflict it would have.
People in general don't like to submit to anything, no matter how bad or good something is. Even though The One Mind was made of thousands of members, it was still only suiting a small portion of the community it is supposed to represent. Those who had the money to push their agenda's forward. And as a result, there were always those who were left out. Slowly the numbers of The One Mind began to dwindle. And one thing came of this. The Individualist Movment.
The stage is now set for the next portion of our existence.
The Individualist Movment
The people who felt that their opinion's didn't matter, and stopped affiliating with The One Mind felt the need to form a group to be able to vent their frustration. At first, these were scattered bar's accross the systems. But as people traveled, they found that there were many people who felt that their opinion and voice was unimportant. Slowly, they found way's to organize and congregate. At first in secret, figuring that the "higher powers" would feel threatend by their organizing.
They were right to do so. Once word got out of some rouge group that didn't conform to the whim of The One Mind it spread like wild fire! The members of The One Mind, fearing to lose their power, began a crusade to purge these people. There were arrests and blacklist's agains't these people, and anyone affiliated with them.
Absolute power corrupts absolutly
The first form of oppression from the central government came. Many agreed that it was needed. The One Mind Government had given them so much and there hadn't been war for many years. These people didn't understand (or remember possibly) what it was like to be able to chose your own life. But on the other side, many people finally saw the danger's of the utopian society that was being created. They were becomming drone's.
As months went on, the fighting started and got worst. The blacklist grew long enough that many could go by in some area's and avoid detection just cause of the simple fact of "who ISN'T on the list." People of the movment found way's to travel to the outer rim systems. Far out of the reach of The One Mind and they formed groups of their own. As time went on and this practice continued, we began to see many collections of people that would unite for a common goal. And with the need to see who is identifying with who, they began to uniform themselves in an assortment of ways. Sometime's litteraly a uniform, or something as simple as a handshake. Like a time of gang's, we saw the surgence of Guilds
The Guilds Role
The guilds role in the society being founded here were to show that there was still a way to live a life out on the rim and belong. Guilds were for many different reason's and many different sizes. They could be anywhere from 5 or 10 people to as many as thousands. And as for purpose? Some was protection. Common goal or living area. Guild's for hire. There is probably a purpose for every guild as there are for any individual in it.
The One Mind Shatters
With the The Individualist Movment in full swing in the inner systems, and the guilds sprining up on the rim plannets. The One Mind found it harder and harder to enforce it's policies and rule's. The higher power's began to see that sooner or later, their great society was going to fall. Much like you saw on the outer rim planet's you began to see a sectioning off of individuals. As influence in The One Mind was slowly divided among the many people, they couldn't see what was comming.
The Individualist Movment was working on a plan. They had built a ship that could send one person unseen straight to the capital. They would wait till the next gathering, send the ship in with the purpose of sabatoging the whole organization. They would install a virus into their mainframe that would ruin any data they had. Destroying some, scrambling it into gibberish, or even planting records that would incriminate key members. Meanwhile, the ship itself would be a bomb capable of wiping out a 10 mile radius. More than enough to make sure the whole gathering.
They waited a year. And carried out the plan.
The Day of Reclamation
The One Mind had been running through alot of trouble. Their border's were in constant disaray, they have uprisings within their own border's, and they had all began to turn on one-another.
This was the perfect time to lauch the mission.
The Individualist Movment sent their star pilot. He was a young man named Kaleb Alhazid and was an ex-squad commander for The One Mind 22nd legion fighter's. He knew the capital well and knew where he could land to get the most direct access to their main frame computer.
He had carried out the mission without a hitch. But in the process, he had been shot before able to reach his pickup spot. He died in the impending explosion.
